Polyetheramine 230, often referred to as Jeffamine D-230, is a difunctional, primary amine with a
molecular weight of approximately 230. It's characterized by repeating oxypropylene units in the
backbone. This compound is a liquid, typically colorless to pale yellow with a slight haze, and is
known for its low viscosity, low color, and low vapor pressure. Polyetheramine 230 is widely used
as an epoxy curing agent, a component in hot melt adhesives (reacting with carboxylic acids), and
in polyurea coatings. It also finds application in various industries including aerospace, chemical,
dental, pharmaceuticals, and textiles.
Key Applications:
Epoxy Curing Agent:
Polyetheramine 230 is a common curing agent for epoxy resins, used in coatings, adhesives, and castings.
Hot Melt Adhesives:
Reacts with carboxylic acids to form hot melt adhesives.
Polyurea Coatings:
A key component in two-component (2K) epoxy coatings and polyurea coatings for floors, pipes, and industrial constructions.
Other Applications:
Also used in formulating emulsifiers, corrosion inhibitors, and as a surfactant component.
Benefits of using Polyetheramine 230:
Improved Flexibility and Chemical Resistance:
Polyetheramine 230, when used in epoxy or polyurea systems, enhances flexibility and chemical resistance of
the final product.
Tough, Clear, and Impact Resistant Coatings:
It produces coatings, castings, and adhesives that are tough, clear, and impact resistant.
Blush-Free Coatings:
Coatings formulated with Polyetheramine D-230 are free of the surface blush often seen with other amine curing agents.
Good Mixing Properties:
It mixes well with various solvents, including water
